Daniel and Ellelein Kirk

Daniel and Ellelein Kirk - Chile
Daniel & Ellelein, with their two boys David and Joshua, are CMS mission partners serving the Chilean church, where they have been since 2005.

Daniel is currently the pastor at their church ‘La Resurrección’ de Gómez Carreño. He is trying to encourage full participation of its members to work together to reach their community, discipling new believers and encouraging evangelism as well as seeking to serve the needs of those around them.

Daniel also coordinates the region’s lay training biblical courses and teaches at the Anglican seminary in Santiago.

His greatest joys are teaching, preaching and discipling; the latter seems to involve what he loves best - hanging around with friends, chatting, sharing and praying!

Daniel felt a calling to mission in Latin America when he was on short term mission in Spain at the age of 19. Ellelein felt a calling to mission in Brazil while studying at the Salesiano University in Mexico after watching the film The Mission!

It was whilst Daniel was working on his Spanish in Mexico that he met Ellelein. After getting married in the UK, they applied to SAMS for a placement that would combine theological education and pastoral work anywhere in Latin America. Their job description seems to change regularly but they are passionate about seeing the body of Christ grow in maturity and reach out to their community.

Ellelein is involved at the moment in discipling some ladies to whom she handed over the leadership of the Sunday school of their local church.

She is kept busy by their two lively boys David (aged five) and Joshua (aged two), but is great at developing deep relationships with Christians and non-believers alike, and supports and encourages Daniel in many areas of his work.

Both Daniel and Ellelein are very grateful to God for all the different opportunities that have opened up in Chile and being involved in an exciting new stage of growth of the Anglican Church there.

There is no chance of being bored because there are always new challenges and now that the Kirks have settled well, they look forward to many more years of working with, encouraging and training up leaders in the Chilean church.
