Urban Encounters 2009

You don't have to leave Europe to have a cross-cultural encounter.

Urban Encounters are short, intense times of immersion into the unique culture of city life.

From Amsterdam to Paris to Hull, discover what God is doing on your urban doorstep – and all you need is a long weekend.

Locations for 2009:

Birmingham, February 2009
Explore what it means to be a faithful Christian presence in a multi-faith context. This encounter is in conjunction with...

Amsterdam, April 2009
Come and experience life in a Christian community, Crossroads International Church, with members from over 40 nationalities, set in the heart of one of Europe’s most diverse cities.

Southall, June 2009
"Proclaiming the Good News to all creation" – what does that mean? Come and see how caring for the environment has been a stepping stone to building bridges in a multi-faith community in London.

Hull, September 2009
For some, Hull is the punch line to a joke. However, you’re invited to meet Christians who have embraced Hull as home. Come with open hands and hearts, ready to see what God is doing among the marginalised.

Paris, October 2009
"City of lights, city of love"…city of loneliness for so many. Hang out with Christians from around the globe and see a side of Paris that will arouse your compassion.

All of these trips involve meeting our mission partners, currently working in these very different environments, who are helping to change lives every day. So you don’t have to go to Africa to be involved in mission!

UK-based Christians of all ages from 16 to 80+ can apply; just call Sarah Truby, of the Crossing Cultures team at CMS, for more information on 01865 787494 or email Sarah on teams@cms-uk.org
