Jo Hazelton
Jo is CMS's regional personnel officer for South America and Iberia. She says her biggest Christian influences were "reading the Bible from cover to cover for the first time whilst living in Peru" as well as "my parents and other Christians I’ve met who have inspired me in different ways". So Jo will have been jealous of Mary Rollin's Encounter trip to Peru (below) but equally she clearly enjoyed her recent visit to Paraguay to meet up with many inspiring Christians working in mission with CMS in various ways.

Jo has lived and worked in South America for a total of about two years as well as a degree in Spanish and a Master's in Globalisation and Latin American Development among other qualifications. She says the best thing about her job is facilitating others in mission and hearing their stories of sharing Jesus and changing lives.


Mary Rollin
Mary is the Latin partner officer at CMS, a role which she fulfils in just one day a week.

She lived in Spain for 30 years and brought up four children there, as well as teaching English and also working as a translator (including for the US basketball ’dream team’ at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics). So she came in very useful as a translator for the Peru Encounter team that went out in 2012.

Now Mary looks after 16 Latin partners, nationals who work across people groups and cultural contexts. Forming a partnership with CMS and local strategic partners, their ministries are frontline, generally opening up new areas of work, initially small in scale and very much focussed on developing and training their own teams and leadership structures.

"They are amazing people, working in very different contexts and a variety of areas. Their devotion and sacrificial work, for little remuneration, is very inspiring."
