A church in Southwest Uganda now listens to its children – and lives are being changed.
Uganda children are often last priority, even in Christian circles, explained CMS mission partner Isobel Booth-Clibborn, who works as Africa regional coordinator for Viva, a network for children.
Her team trains churches to show God’s love to young ones. Favour, aged seven, had never been asked her opinion of church. After the training, Pastor Nyanja asked her and other children what they would improve.
Thanks to their suggestions, the church has a new latrine, a good play area and a new learning room.
As they have been encouraged to participate in worship and church life, the number of children attending has grown from 29 to 125.
“I discovered I had not really been good to the children in my church, but God touched us through this training and now we love them,” said Pastor Nyanja, adding,“The positive changes to children’s work are transforming adults as well.”
