Tim Dakin
Tim Dakin has been General Secretary of CMS since 2000, yet his fervour for mission began developing much earlier. Born in Tanzania, the son of mission workers, Tim was educated in Nairobi and later, when his parents moved back to the UK, in Henley upon Thames.
After 10 years of studying theology at Christ Church Oxford and King’s College London, Tim returned to Nairobi and became Principal of Carlile College in Nairobi. He and his wife Sally and their two children, Anna and Jonny, continue to visit Kenya frequently.
Tim has a keen interest in world mission and serves on the Mission and Public Affairs Council and Partnership for World Mission Panel. He is a recently appointed Member of the General Synod of the Church of England. In his limited spare time, Tim enjoys reading, films and travelling.
