Sharing Jesus, Changing Lives
Navigatio

A book of liturgies and meditations that have been, and are being, used by Safe Space, an emerging/missional community in Telford that grew from a mission project jointly sponsored by CMS and Lichfield Diocese.

Mission partner Mark Berry, who works in Telford, wrote the liturgies.

They are richly creative and sharply focused around mission.

They are a vital element of the 'rhythm of life' of this new Christian community in Telford. They include prayers, psalms and readings from the Lectionary.

We hope they will spark your own imagination, creativity and worshipful relationship with the Creator God.

Background

Around 150,000 people live in Telford --- one half of the entire population of the north Shropshire area. Yet, in 2005, when Mark Berry was appointed, less than one per cent of people attended an Anglican church on a Sunday. Adult church-going had dropped by 20 per cent in the previous 10 years.

Mark embraced this challenging mission field, which contains some of the most deprived areas in Britain.

He was appointed by the Church Mission Society and the Diocese of Lichfield to build up fresh expressions of Christian community in Telford, working mainly with those in the key 20 - 40's age group who do not generally connect with 'conventional Church'.

Although the seven-year post is still "extremely exciting and somewhat scary", Mark, with his wife Louisa and son Nathan, continues to get to grips with the challenge.
