Pat Blanchard
Based in the shanty town areas in the south of Lima, Pat Blanchard is a CMS mission partner, working as a Deacon in the Anglican Diocese of Peru with pastoral oversight of two churches. Since arriving in Peru in 2000, Pat has been involved in the pastoral work in Jesus El Nazareno church. She took over the leadership in 2005 and was ordained to the deaconate in 2006. The Shalom project, which was started in 2003, works amongst children and young people with disabilities – providing therapy and support to over 50 children and their families. In 2008 the Shalom church was started and after a time of renting premises, a property was purchased to develop this important and strategic community based ministry. Today Shalom has Peruvian physical, speech and language therapists, psychologists, pre-school teachers and other professionals who complement the services offered. Craft workshops provide practical skills, social orientation and some income for the young people and their families.
David and Liz Gregory-Smith
David Gregory-Smith have worked 'post-retirement' in Kigali in Rwanda for extended periods over the last four years. They are part of the CMS Salt programme for people working, or long-term visiting, in a country to use their skills and experience to help and support the local church. In Kigali, David has been working in the Institute of Science and Technology, and Liz teaching at Kigali Anglican Theological College.
Jason Day
Jason and Tracy Day are CMS mission partners in Nepal. Jason works full-time as the Expatriate Services Officer at the Mission Hospital, as well as holding a part-time role at the Nursing School. Tracy is a qualified nurse, and although originally working full-time at the Nursing School, now works part-time since the arrival of their children Ruby (aged five) and Libby (aged three). Jason’s hospital work is essentially a personnel job and is busy and challenging. He is involved in recruitment, selection, logistics and facilitating placements, as well as leading the expatriate team currently working at the hospital. His part-time teaching role at the Nursing School involves planning and delivering lessons, setting exams and marking mountains of homework!
