Freda Carey in Pakistan

Some Islamic television channels spend considerable time and money running programmes that combat Christian teaching.

These mass media programmes attack the reliability of the Bible, the truth of Jesus’ death and resurrection and the idea of Jesus being God.

Many Pakistani Christians, especially young people, face questions and challenges from their Muslim classmates, colleagues, employers and neighbours, and they feel ill-equipped to answer them.

Last year, we got the idea to run Faham-ul-Kitab (Understanding the Bible) seminars to help people feel more confident in their faith.

All the speakers offer their services voluntarily, and the seminars usually take place at the weekends or in the evenings. Where possible, local churches make all the practical arrangements and cover the cost of the refreshments, whether through charging registration fees or out of church funds.

The response has been incredible.

Since we first started, more than 1,500 people have been helped by these seminars in several different locations. It’s great to see Pakistani Christians helping other Pakistani Christians grow stronger in their faith.

The Faham-ul-Kitab team would like to be able to offer these seminars even more widely, as well as produce media materials of their own. Please pray for this vital project to continue to grow.
