Every year, thousands of sons and daughters go missing after being tempted to cities in India with promises of well-paid work or marriage.
Many have been driven to desperate measures as their families face joblessness and poverty following the closure of many tea estates. Sanjana Das of the Church of North India investigated the background stories, told in pictures here. She's now launching a CMS-backed project to combat the problem.
