Report - Ben Nevis Climb

Congratulations to our Ben Nevis team!

As most of us ran for cover over the rainy May Bank Holiday weekend, 13 adventurous CMS supporters travelled up to Fort William to climb the UK's highest mountain. Their efforts were rewarded with sunshine and clear blue skies. Views from the summit were absolutely spectacular, including the Cuillans on the Isle of Skye: a treat, given that cloudless days on the Ben are something of a rarity. All 13 members of the team - Yemi Adedeji, Simon Baynes, Anna Burmajster, Steve and Cathy Davie, Adam Deacon, Margaret Mandrell, Bob Mathews, Michael Patterson, Thelma Scott, Mary Smith, Richard Venning and Jean Wyatt - completed the challenge and CMS congratulates them all upon their great achievement!

The trek was a sponsored challenge raising money for VISTA: a CMS programme offering those with leadership potential the opportunity to develop leadership skills. Participants are chosen from, and sent to, countries in Africa, Asia and Europe. Programmes are tailored to the individual participant so that their time can be used most effectively. As CMS General Secretary Tim Dakin says: "Vista gives people a glimpse of another world. By moving Christians out of their comfort zones it is one of the most strategic ways that the church can develop missional leadership."

The Ben Nevis team so far has raised in excess of £6,000 for VISTA. To sponsor one of the team please follow the links on the right of this page, and to take part in a similar challenge please contact Sarah Thomas on +44 (0)1865 787518 or email challenges@cms-uk.org
