Why “do Advent” when you can do mission this Advent?
Advent. For many it’s a time of peace and joy, parties and excitement. For others, the run-up to Christmas is a time of loneliness, stress or even deep sadness.
Advent is the perfect time to offer hope to those around us.
CMS is inviting your church to offer hope this Advent by taking part in an exciting new Advent mission programme called Share the Light.
Share the Light gives your church members the chance to grow closer while also helping them to make an ongoing difference in the lives of people in your local community – a difference that will continue far beyond Christmas.
What’s involved?
Share the Light is based on one simple yet powerful belief: Prayer Changes Lives.
Share the Light challenges church members to commit to praying for someone they know for a year. Once they’ve selected someone, they give that person or family a beautiful presentation candle, explaining how they will be praying for them over the next twelve months.
Candle recipients are also invited to a special candlelit Advent carol service at your church. CMS provides free worship and activity resources for a “Share the Light” service as well high-quality, low-cost the candles.

Share the Light worship resources are free as are the votive candles you need for the candle-lit Advent carol service. And if you would like to use CMS presentation gift-candles, they are deeply discounted for participating churches. All CMS asks in return is that your church take up a collection for our ongoing mission work.
