Dick is the Principal of Rwanda Christian University, a new institution, which he headed up from scratch together with Caroline, who lectures at the college in mission and theology.

Caroline was born in Britain and grew up in South. On graduating from the University of Cape Town she trained and worked as a teacher of English.

Dick was born in South Africa. He studied theology at the Bible Institute of South Africa and at the University of South Africa. Ordained to the ministry of the Church of England in South Africa, Dick served in the Cape Province, Zimbabwe, and in Natal.

The Seed family moved to the UK, Caroline taught French at an Independent School, and Dick was a curate in southeast London. They have also spent some four years in Düsseldorf, Germany where Dick was Chaplain of Christ Church Düsseldorf and Caroline taught English in German industry. Their children Richard, Helen and Craig are fluent in German, having attended German schools since 1996.

They were previously mission partners at St Francis' College, Wusasa, Nigeria, before relocating to Rwanda in 2005.
