Sharing Jesus, Changing Lives
Mission partners Richard and Sue Kellow with daughter Emily
Richard and Sue Kellow

Richard and Sue Kellow are mission partners at Rwanda Christian University near Kigali. Richard teaches English and Sue is looking after Emily and will be involved in special needs education in the community.

Richard is teaching English as a foreign language to Rwandan French-speaking students, to enable them to further their education and participate in the courses taught in English at Rwanda Christian University (RCU), which began life as Kigali Anglican Theological College.

Sue will be a mother to Emily and hopes to fit in some English teaching and assisting in the community with special needs education.

The church in Rwanda is playing an important role in the reconciliation and healing process following the genocide 12 years ago. Many pastors were killed during the genocide 12 years ago so the training of pastors at RCU is vital in the ongoing development of the country.

Richard is a modern languages teacher who has worked in secondary schools in Cambridgeshire. He has also worked as an administrator for a large, lovely church in Cambridge. He has travelled extensively in Europe and spent a year studying in Germany.

Sue is a Speech and Language Therapist specialising with children with hearing impairment and also those with severe learning difficulties. She has also worked in Cambridgeshire as well as in a school for the deaf in Tanzania for one year.

They are both qualified teachers of English as a foreign language and have recently spent a year teaching in Moscow, Russia. Richard taught mainly adult business English and Sue worked in English language nurseries.

During their time in Russia they were linked to CMS through the Salt fellowship and volunteered with charities supporting orphans and refugee children. They also made friends with believers from the Russian Orthodox Church, providing opportunities to share with fellow Christians from very different cultural and denominational backgrounds.

They have both felt a calling by God to make a longer-term commitment for service overseas with a particular heart for the disadvantaged and those who suffer due to poverty, disability or other forms of injustice.

They have one daughter, Emily Joy, and are enjoying the gift of family life.
