Sharing Jesus, Changing Lives
Ross and Sonia Wilson
Ross and Sonia Wilson

Ross and Sonia Wilson (with Rebekah, Caitlin and Keziah) are CMS mission partners in Bangkok, Thailand, helping people build Godly relationships and encouraging people to seek God’s healing in areas of brokenness.

They also spend time reaching out to those in crisis, such as the hospitalised, prisoners and refugees.

“We have often thanked God for the great families he gave us, and for bringing us together and helping us build a strong marriage, in spite of the ups and downs! Both at home and at work, we want to help others experience more of what God has for us in relationship with him and with others. Many people here, and indeed world-wide, are suffering through broken relationships – they need healing, teaching, discipling, love and support. As we learn from our own struggles – with issues such as anger, sexual sin, dependency, control and so on – we hope that we can help bring people into the healthy and holy relationships God has designed us for!”

At present, Ross and Sonia work with Living Waters Thailand, who use seminars and prayer ministry/teaching programmes to help bring wholeness to those struggling with their sexuality or unhealthy relationships. They also work with a local church in Bangkok, helping on various initiatives including Alpha, pre-marriage counselling, prison work and hospital visitation. Ross and Sonia bring experience from business as well as their previous role at Viva Network – a Christian organisation helping children at risk by developing networks of Christians in this field.

Ross is from Northern Ireland, while Sonia spent the first eight years of her life in Argentina, where her parents were missionaries. They met while studying at Bath University. “After graduation, we married and moved to Staines, Middlesex. We had three years in business, trying to reflect Jesus-with lots of mistakes and some great moments.” They were very involved in church youth work and outreach activities like Alpha. Having moved to Oxford, Rebekah and Caitlin arrived, with Keziah ‘made in Thailand’. “The children have adjusted well to Thai life and enjoy sweet-talking the locals in their own language. They are integral to what God is doing in and through us as a family here.”

“Moving to Thailand has been less straightforward than we imagined! The language has been trickier than we expected (we think it’s a lifetime’s study), and there have been many ups and downs as people and situations around us have changed – with significant impact on our role. We are, however, very much looking forward to our second term here and are praying for God to lead us into more and more situations where people are struggling and where we can share Christ’s love. We hope to get to know him better and help others to do the same.”
